He began his studies in 1977 in his hometown and has composed over 50 works for percussion along with several educational books. His compositions have gained worldwide recognition and have been performed by notable artists such as Evelyn Glennie and the London Symphony Orchestra. He obtained his Master's degree from Siegfried Fink at the University of Music in Würzburg and earned his Doctorate at the University of Miami with Fred Wickstrom.
