Nguyễn Văn Hiến, born on October 15, 1954, is a retired Admiral and served as Vice Minister of Defense in Vietnam from 2009 to 2016. He was born in Gia Tan, Ninh Binh province, Vietnam, and joined the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1976. He is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and was a Congressman in the National Assembly of Vietnam. On December 5, 2011, he became only the second Vietnamese to be appointed Admiral of the Vietnam People's Navy.
