Nichinyo I is a Japanese Buddhist priest, born on February 26, 1935, in Tokyo. He is the current Supreme Priest of Nichiren Shōshū and the Prior of the Taiseki-ji temple. He was ordained in 1943 and held various positions, including Prior of Myōku-ji and Daigan-ji before becoming the Supreme Priest in 2005. Under his leadership, he has focused on temple restoration and the global expansion of Nichiren Shōshū, celebrating the 800th anniversary of Nichiren's birth in 2021 and 2022.
