Tzavaras studied under notable instructors at the New England Conservatory and SUNY Stony Brook. He has held academic positions at various institutions and has performed over 1500 concerts worldwide. As a member of the Shanghai Quartet and principal cellist for the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Tzavaras has contributed to numerous recordings and had appearances in film and documentaries.
