Arthur W. 'Nick' Arundel was a Harvard graduate and a U.S. Marine Corps combat officer during the Korean War. He was a journalist who worked for CBS News and United Press International, and founded Arundel Communications, where he introduced the 24-hour news cycle to radio with WAVA-FM. Arundel played a key role in the expansion of George Mason College into a university and served as the chairman and publisher of the 17 Times Community Newspapers. He passed away in 2011, leaving a legacy recognized by the Virginia General Assembly.
