Nicol Spence Galbraith (17 March 1927 – 7 August 2008) was a British physician renowned for his contributions to public health, notably as the founding director of the Central Public Health Laboratory Service's Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre. His significant work was highlighted during the smallpox outbreak in Birmingham in 1978. He joined the Epidemiological Research Laboratory in 1958 and later became the medical officer of health for Newham. Galbraith advanced NHS epidemiology training and was honored with the Jenner Medal in 1991 for his notable contributions to public health.
