Nicola Maria Sanese is an Italian politician born on March 4, 1942, in Casalbordino. A member of the Christian Democracy party, he was first elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1976 and re-elected in 1979, 1983, and 1987. He served as Undersecretary of State for Industry, Trade, and Handicrafts in the Craxi I, Craxi II, and De Mita governments, and as Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council in the Fanfani VI government. From 1995 to 2012, he held the position of Secretary General of the Lombardy Region under President Roberto Formigoni.
