Nicolás Sánchez-Albornoz y Aboín, born in Madrid in 1926, is a Spanish historian and university professor. He is the son of the historian Claudio Sánchez-Albornoz, who went into exile after the Spanish Civil War. During his student years, Nicolás participated in a clandestine attempt to reconstruct the FUE and was detained by the Franco regime in 1947, sentenced to forced labor. He escaped in 1948, later residing in Argentina, where he developed much of his career. Since 1991, he has been a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of History in Madrid.
