Nidia Irene Morrell is an Argentine astronomer born on June 3, 1953, in Mar del Plata. She currently works at the Las Campanas Observatory in La Serena, Chile. Morrell is known for her significant contributions to massive star astrophysics. She was a member of the Massive Stars research group led by Virpi Niemela and participated in the Hubble Heritage Project. Her research includes the systematic search for variability in stellar X-rays, contributing to the historical observation of a Thorne-Żytkow candidate. She was also part of the team that studied Supernova ASASSN-15lh.
