Born on December 5, 1962, in Podayva, he graduated in agriculture from the Higher Agricultural Institute in Plovdiv. He served as Deputy Minister since 2001 and was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Forests on February 23, 2005, under the government of Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, remaining in this position when Sergey Stanishev took office on August 16, 2005. Following the reorganization of the ministerial role on July 18, 2007, he became Minister of Agriculture and Food.
