Nikola Stražičić was a Yugoslav-Croatian oceanographer, transport and regional scientist, and the founder of marine geography in Croatia. He was born on March 12, 1924, in Babino Polje, Mljet, Yugoslavia (now Croatia), and he passed away on August 11, 2018, in Rijeka, Croatia. Stražičić earned his doctorate in 1979 from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics at the University of Zagreb and served as a full professor at the Faculty of Marine Studies at the University of Rijeka until his retirement, publishing about one hundred geographical works.
