Nikolas Segurola Etxaniz was a Basque shepherd, monk, and bertsolari born on March 28, 1939, in Azpeitia, Gipuzkoa. At 12, he moved to the Arantzazuko sanctuary, where he spent over 70 years. He was a co-founder of the Gomiztegiko Shepherd School. Initially managing various livestock, he transitioned the focus to sheep with the reduction of friars. Segurola composed over a thousand bertso and served as a judge in the 1986 Bertsolari Championship. He received the 'Baserritarron laguna' award from the ENBA farmers' union in January 2020.
