Nikolay Karpol is a renowned Soviet and Russian volleyball coach, born on May 1, 1938, in Byarezhnitsa, Poland. He has headed women's teams for the USSR, CIS, Russia, and Belarus. Since 1969, he has been the president and chief coach of Uralochka-NTMK in Yekaterinburg. Karpol is recognized as a distinguished coach in both the USSR and Russia and has received numerous awards, including the Order of the Red Banner of Labour and the Sports Oscar for best women's volleyball coach. He is an honorary citizen of Yekaterinburg.
