Nils Bengt Markgren was a Swedish engineer born on May 14, 1912, in Nederkalix, Norrbotten County. He graduated as a civil engineer from Chalmers University of Technology in 1938 and began his career at the road engineering office in Luleå. He worked with various road organizations in Norrbotten and was promoted to chief road engineer in 1965. Markgren was notable for being a knight of the Order of the Polar Star and is buried in the family grave at Nederkalix river cemetery.
