Nimai Mohanty (August 10, 1953 - November 4, 2022) was a prominent Odia writer and lyricist, well-known for his contributions to Odia cinema. He composed over 300 songs for more than 30 Odia films and television serials. Among his notable works, the songs 'Chandrama Ago Chandrama' and 'Megha Tale Luchia Jau' from the film 'Sagar Ganga' gained significant popularity. Additionally, Mohanty published books in both Odia and English and was a cultural researcher, notably receiving a senior fellowship from the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi in 2001 for his research on Mayurbhanj Chau dance. He also practiced law.
