Nirgun Sthapit was a young activist for democracy in Nepal, born on July 8, 1968. He became a martyr during the 1990 People's Movement, which aimed to restore multiparty democracy by ending absolute monarchy and the repressive Panchayat system. Sthapit was shot by security forces during a demonstration in Kathmandu and succumbed to his injuries shortly after, amidst a crowded hospital. His efforts and ultimate sacrifice are remembered as part of the struggle for democracy in Nepal.
