Nizamettin Alkumru was a Turkish writer and physician of Laz descent, known for his research on Laz identity and culture. Born in 1921 in Esenkıyı, Artvin, he graduated from Istanbul Medical Faculty and worked as an internist in Turkey and Germany before retiring in 1982. He dedicated his later years to promoting Laz culture, producing significant works including an encyclopedic compilation about Laz people in 1982, and a book reflecting on Laz cultural history in 2006. He passed away in 2008 and is buried in his hometown.
