He joined Square Enix (formerly Square) in 1985, where he collaborated with Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series, on various titles. Uematsu is best known for his work on the Final Fantasy franchise. After nearly 20 years at Square, he left in 2004 to establish his own company, Smile Please, and a music production company called Dog Ear Records.
