Nobutoshi Kihara was a prominent Japanese engineer known for his original work on the cassette tape player in the 1970s. Born on October 14, 1926, in Tokyo, he studied at Waseda University before joining Sony in 1947. He retired from Sony in 2006 and later established a research center with the company in 1988, where he served as president. Kihara was highly regarded by Sony co-founder Masaru Ibuka, who referred to him as a 'divine person.' He passed away on February 13, 2011, due to heart failure.
