He gained notoriety for secretly signing college athletes to contracts giving his agency exclusive negotiation rights with NFL teams. Convicted of mail fraud for ties to organized crime, his sentence was overturned on appeal. He hosted the Night of 100 Stars Oscars viewing party for over 25 years. Walters passed away on December 10, 2023, at the age of 91.
