He reached a highest rank of East Makushita No. 27 in the September 1993 tournament. During his active career, he stood 177 cm tall and weighed 174 kg. Notably, he comes from a family with sumo heritage; his grandfather was a Juryo wrestler named Santarō Ōyodo, and his brother is also involved in sumo as Makushita wrestler Kōsuke Akimoto.
