She was known for her efforts advocating for increases in pensions for retirees and led numerous marches advocating for the rights of the elderly in Argentina. In 1991, her retirees movement initiated a weekly protest cutting off the strategic Avenida Rivadavia in Buenos Aires in front of the National Congress. This protest became notable as it was the first time in Argentine history that streets were systematically blocked as a form of demonstration, anticipating the piquetero movement.
