Norman Ginsbury (1902–1991) was a notable British playwright whose works are recognized for their impact in the theatre world. He gained acclaim for his 1935 play 'Viceroy Sarah', which featured Sarah Churchill and had a successful run in the West End. His 1945 play 'The First Gentleman' was particularly popular, surpassing five hundred performances and leading to a film adaptation in 1948. Ginsbury also contributed to screenwriting, including a project for Gainsborough Pictures and co-writing a screenplay for 'Bonnie Prince Charlie'. His translations of Henrik Ibsen's works further enhanced his reputation in the performing arts.
