Norman Ollestad is an American writer born on May 30, 1967. He grew up in a hippie enclave south of Malibu, where his father nurtured his talents in skiing and surfing. At age 11, he became the Southern California junior champion in downhill skiing. After the tragic death of his father in a plane crash in 1979, Ollestad channeled his experiences into his bestselling book 'Crazy for the Storm,' published in 2009. He began writing this acclaimed work in 2006, after studying creative writing at UCLA. Ollestad lives in Venice, Los Angeles with his wife and son.
