Norman Smurthwaite is an English businessman born on August 8, 1960. He is known for his tenure as the chairman of Port Vale Football Club, which he led starting in 2013. A qualified engineer, Smurthwaite had built a successful business career before retiring at 50. He played a vital role in the club's promotion from League Two in the 2012–13 season but resigned after the team was relegated in 2016–17. In 2018, he purchased Liberty Way stadium and subsequently sold both the stadium and Port Vale in 2019.
