Norris McWhirter was a British publisher born on August 12, 1925, in Winchmore Hill, Middlesex. He co-founded the Guinness Book of Records with his twin brother Ross McWhirter in 1954 and was actively involved in the publishing business until 1996. By that time, over 75 million copies of the Guinness Book had been sold in 37 languages. McWhirter passed away at the age of 78 while playing tennis due to a heart attack on April 19, 2004, in Kington Langley, Wiltshire.
