Prof. Dr. Nusret Aras was a prominent Turkish academician who graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1971. He became a specialist in General Surgery in 1976 and an associate professor in 1981. After leaving Ankara University at the end of 1982, he served as the chief of General Surgery at Ankara Numune Hospital from 1983 to 1991. He returned to Ankara University in 1991 as a professor and held various administrative roles, including vice dean and rector, until his retirement in 2011.
