O. S. Manian is an influential member of the 15th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, representing the Vedaranyam constituency. He is known for his strong loyalty to AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa and has previously served as a representative for the Mayiladuturai Lok Sabha constituency. In May 2016, he was appointed as Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, marking his inaugural cabinet position within the Government of Tamil Nadu. Manian is affiliated with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party.
