Since dedicating himself to sculpture in 1979, he held his first exhibition in 1985, showcasing nine wooden sculptures focused on themes of loneliness and connection. Within a year, he graduated from the art academy A.B.K. Vredeman de Vries, specializing in monumental design, and has since exhibited his work in Friesland as well as in cities like Utrecht, Kassel, and Zundert. His studio is located in a former dairy factory in Gytsjerk.
