Ofelia Arakelyan is an Armenian educator born on September 12, 1948, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR. She earned a Doctorate in Pedagogical Sciences in 2003 and was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Educational Sciences in 2004. After the Spitak earthquake, she established an Armenian school in Moscow focusing on the recovery of affected children. In 1991, she developed a new model of secondary education centered on multicultural education and fostering tolerance in diverse communities.
