He completed his doctorate in 1948, focusing on Ottoman tiles from Kütahya. Aslanapa actively conducted archaeological research in his hometown and involved his students in these efforts. A member of the German Archaeological Institute, he contributed significantly to the field until his passing in Istanbul on April 1, 2013, at the age of 98.
