Oktay Rıfat Horozcu was a Turkish poet and playwright born on June 10, 1914, in Trabzon, Turkey. He is considered one of the best Turkish poets of the 1930s and was a founder of the Garip movement alongside Orhan Veli Kanık and Melih Cevdet Anday. From 1955 onwards, he shifted towards a new poetry style known as the Second New. He is also known for his successful works in theater and non-poetry novels. He was a close associate of the poet Nazım Hikmet. He passed away on April 18, 1988, in Istanbul, Turkey.
