Igor Yuryevich Okunev, born on October 24, 1986, in Leningrad, is a scholar in political geography and a children's author. He serves as the director of the Center for Spatial Analysis of International Relations at the Institute of International Studies of MGIMO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. He is the chair of the research committee on geopolitics at the International Political Science Association, a member of the National Committee of Geographers of Russia at the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Russian Geographical Society. He holds a Ph.D. in political science and is an associate professor.
