Ola Gert Myklebust Aanjesen was a Norwegian major and accomplished pilot during World War II, born on August 30, 1918, in Melbu. He won the U.S. national ski jumping championship in 1942 while training as a pilot in Canada. Aanjesen served in the Norwegian army and managed to escape to the UK to join the Air Force, later commanding a squadron by the war's end. He was recognized for his military achievements with several medals. Post-war, he continued his career as a pilot with Det Norske Luftfartselskap (later SAS).
