He started his career as an apprentice at Århus Kul Kompagni and later established Haahr Benzin in 1960, focusing on oil import from the Soviet Union. He expanded his chain of gas stations, often offering lower prices. After selling his stations to Statoil in 2004, he launched a new chain but faced financial troubles leading to personal bankruptcy in 2017.
