Oleg Chedia was a Soviet geologist born on April 27, 1923, and passed away on August 3, 1998. He was a Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences in 1966 and became a professor in 1969. Chedia served as the head of the Neotectonics Laboratory at the Kyrgyz Geological Institute from 1964 to 1975, and as the scientific leader of the Seismology Laboratory from 1975 to 1989. His work encompassed general and regional geology, geomorphology, neotectonics, and paleogeography.
