He graduated from the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute in 1960 and soon embarked on a literary career while working at the Yantar plant. His first collection of stories was published in 1967, and he became a professional writer after joining the Writers' Union in 1985. Glushkin has held various literary posts, edited several journals, and published numerous works, receiving multiple awards for his contributions to literature and culture in the Kaliningrad region.
