Oleg Yurievich Klimov, born on February 27, 1953, in Yaransk, Kirov Oblast, is a Russian historian specializing in ancient history and culture, particularly the Hellenistic period. He earned a Doctor of Historical Sciences degree in 2002. Klimov serves as a professor at St. Petersburg University, where he heads the Department of Ancient Greek and Roman History. Previously, he was the vice-rector of Murmansk State Pedagogical University from 1991 to 2004.
