Oleg Vladimirovich Matveyev is a Russian historian specializing in the history of Kuban and the Kuban Cossacks. He earned a doctorate in historical sciences in 2009 and is a professor at the Russian history department of Kuban State University. In addition to his academic role, he is a senior researcher at the Scientific Research Center for Traditional Culture of the State Scientific and Creative Institution 'Kuban Cossack Chorus'. He is also one of the authors of the 'Great Russian Encyclopedia'.
