He earned his degree from the Moscow Library Institute in 1947, later serving as a professor in general bibliography and then in electronic libraries, information technologies, and systems. Korshunov held the title of Doctor of pedagogical sciences and was recognized as an eminent scientist in the RSFSR. He was an academician of the International Academy of Informatization and the Academy of Humanitarian Sciences, and he developed a documentary concept of bibliography.
