Oliver Widmer is a Swiss bass-baritone opera singer born on March 24, 1965. His international career includes performances in lieder, opera, and oratorios. He originated the role of Jäger in Heinz Holliger's opera Schneewittchen in 1998. Widmer was born in Zurich and initially studied under his father, baritone Kurt Widmer. He made his debut as a solo singer in 1985 and continued his studies with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau from 1986 to 1989. He has been associated with the Zurich Opera since the early 1990s. He is married to mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli.
