He served as the Quartermaster General of the Nigerian Army from 1976 to 1978 and was the Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji from 1978 to 1979. He held the position of Permanent Secretary in several ministries, including Defence from 1990 to 1993, Industry from 1993 to 1997, and Science and Technology from 1997 to 1999.
