Omar Chabán was an Argentine impresario born on March 31, 1952, in San Martín, Buenos Aires. He became notable in the 1980s Buenos Aires underground scene through his ownership of Café Einstein and Cemento, a key venue for alternative rock. Chabán was sentenced to 20 years for his role in the deadly República Cromañón fire on December 30, 2004, that killed 194 people. Although he appealed and was released on bail, he was later convicted. He died from Hodgkin's lymphoma on November 17, 2014, at the age of 62.
