Oreste Macrì was an Italian Hispanist and literary critic, born on February 10, 1913, in Maglie, Lecce, and passed away on February 15, 1998, in Florence. He graduated in philosophy in 1934 and taught literature in Florence and Parma. Macrì married in Turin in 1942 and later taught at the School of Magisterium in Florence. He founded and directed the Instituto Hispánico and was a member of the Accademia Toscana di Scienze e Lettere. His notable works include the study of several Spanish literary figures and he bequeathed his extensive library to the Gabinetto Vieusseux in Florence.
