Orhan Şaik Gökyay was a Turkish teacher, poet, and researcher born on July 16, 1902, in İnebolu. He passed away on December 2, 1994. Known for his nationalism in poetry, he famously wrote the poem 'This Country Whose?' and excelled more in literary criticism and research than in poetry. His notable works include simplifying the 'Dede Korkut' book. Over a teaching career spanning seventy years, he educated thousands of students. He also composed the lyrics for 'If I Climbed Those Mountains,' a classic Turkish song composed by Arif Sami Toker.
