Ori Kaplan is an Israeli jazz alto saxophonist born on October 1, 1969, in Tel Aviv. He began studying classical clarinet at eleven but switched to jazz, playing with the underground band DXM. In 1991, he moved to the United States, where he graduated from Mannes College and formed his trio. Kaplan collaborated with various musicians and released albums under CIMP. He was recognized with the Jerome Award and worked with bands like Gogol Bordello, integrating Eastern European music. He returned to Israel, collaborating with local artists and forming the Balkan Beat Box.
