Orkut Büyükkökten, born on January 6, 1975, is a Turkish software engineer known for developing social networking services, primarily Orkut and Nexus. Originally from Konya, Turkey, he earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and information science from Bilkent University in Ankara, as well as a master's and PhD from Stanford University. After joining Google, he dedicated 20% of his time to creating a social network, which aimed to connect all internet users. The service was eventually named Orkut.com after him.
