He began his music career in 1969 with hits like 'Quisiera saber' and 'Arrepentido.' He gained fame after participating in several music festivals, including the second Festival de Arequipa in 1970. Orthega also had a significant presence in Latin America and performed in various countries. He established himself in Mexico in 1976, and currently resides in Montreal, Canada, where he occasionally performs.
