Osamu Watanabe is a Japanese bureaucrat born on December 6, 1940. He served as the former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and as the Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization. He became the Vice President of Japan Oil Development Co., Ltd. on June 25, 2007, and then President a year later. Watanabe also held the position of Chairman of the Japan Petroleum Exploration Association until 2020. He is colloquially known by the nickname 'Nabeshu'.
