Otto Buggisch (1910-1991) was a German mathematician and cryptanalyst during World War II, working at the Wehrmacht's cipher department. He deciphered enemy communications and recognized weaknesses in the German Army's Enigma machine. Buggisch graduated from the Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium and studied mathematics and physics at Darmstadt University. He obtained his doctoral degree in 1938. After the war, he was interrogated by Allied intelligence regarding his work and later taught at various institutions, including Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium and the Mathematical Institute of Darmstadt.
